Deep Night of the soul

“This song was received under difficult circumstances. I was passing through a ‘dark night of the soul’ in my life. And in the deep stillness of a lonely Winter night I received this song, words and music, in one unbroken flow.”
Adrian Freedman
Beginning its journey as a seed in the cold, dark bottom of the pond, the lotus flower sends out shoots that rise through the water towards the surface, and slowly emerge toward the light, opening out of the water as a beautiful pink, white and gold petals, perfect and whole. A movement from darkness to light, from closed bud to open flower. Since ancient times the rising lotus has been a symbol of transformation, spiritual growth and inspiration.
This track was produced in multiple locations around the world and features Ayla Schafer and Susie Ro on vocals, alongside Renato Anesi from Brazil, Sanju Sahai from India, Antonio Moscato and Ilaria Gianfagna from Italy, and George Fogle from the UK. Adrian plays shakuhachi, harmonium and percussion.
““The lotus flower is a poignant reminder that we can flourish in spite of, or maybe even because of, darkness and struggle. Just like the lotus we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world.”

Lotus Flower
Rising up
Through the deep dark waters of my mind
To the Clear, Pure Light
Of this Holy night
Om Mani Padme Hum
Give me Light
Give me strength
Give me Love
Lift me up
Don’t let me fall
By the Light of the Sacred Star
Consecrate my heart
And purify my soul
Sacred flame
Burning bright in the deep dark night
Of my soul
Purifying Fire
Of my heart’s desire
To be unified with the Whole
